Walter W. Hölbling is professor of U.S. Literature and Culture at the American Studies Department at Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, Austria. His degrees are in History and English/American Studies. Among his (edited) publications are Fiktionen vom Krieg im neueren amerikanischen Roman (1987), Utopian Thought in American Literature, Untersuchungen zur literarischen Utopie und Dystopie in den USA (1988), The European Emigrant Experience in the U. S. A. (1992), Der Krieg der Bilder: Ausgewählte Dokumentarfilme zum Zweiten Weltkrieg und zum Vietnamkrieg (1993), 'Nature's Nation' Revisited: American Concepts of Nature from Wonder to Ecological Crisis (2003), What Is American? New Identities in U.S. Culture(2004), U.S. Icons and Iconicity (2006), Theories and Texts. For Students By Studenty (2007, 2009), and Landscapes of Postmodernity. Concepts and Paradigms of Critical Theory (2010), as well as essays on American Studies in Europe, U. S. war fiction and film, Indian captivity narratives, US postmodern and postcolonial fiction, and the affinities of U.S. literature and film to public political rhetoric. Teaching and research have taken him to a good number of universities in Europe, Japan, and the USA. He is currently working on a revised English version of his study on U. S. war novels and is also gathering material for a monograph about Austrian refugee publishers in the USA.
He was one of the founding members of the Austrian Association for American Studies in 1974 and also served two terms as the Secretary General of the European Association for American Studies (1994-2002).
In his free time he writes poetry in English and German and, together with Gabriele Pötscher, has published two volumes of poetry in English - Love Lust Loss (2003) and Think Twice (2006), both with a "she says/he says" dialogic structure. His poems and short fiction have been published online and in print in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the USA, and he has done readings in Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the USA.

Jeff Derksen is a founding member of Vancouver's writer-run centre, the Kootenay School of Writing, and worked as an editor of Writing magazine. His work has been anthologized in East of Main and Verse: Postmodern Poetry and Language Writing. As an editor, Derksen also organized 'Disgust and Overdetermination: a poetics issue,' for Open Letter and 'Poetry and the Long Neoliberal Moment' for West Coast Line. Derksen's poetry and critical writing on art, urbanism and text have been published in Europe and North America. Formerly a research fellow at the Center for Place, Culture and Politics at the City University of New York, he currently works in the English Department at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver). He collaborates with Sabine Bitter and Helmut Weber on visual art and research projects with the collective named "Urban Subjects": they recently edited Autogestion, or Henri Lefebvre in New Belgrade (Fillip / Sternberg) and Momentarily: Learning from Mega-events (Western Front). Derksen's books of essays Annihilated Time: Poetry and Other Politics (Talonbooks) and After Euphoria (JPR Ringier) are forthcoming.

Colin R. Johnson is Assistant Professor of Gender Studies and Adjunct Assistant Professor of American Studies, History and Human Biology at Indiana University Bloomington where he teaches courses on LGBTQ history in the United States, the history of gender and sexuality generally, queer theory, feminist theory and feminist geography. Prior to joining Indiana University's faculty, he was a predoctoral research fellow at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., and postdoctoral fellow in the Program for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality at The Johns Hopkins University. He holds a BA with honors in Law, Letters and Society from the University of Chicago and a PhD in American Culture from the University of Michigan. For the past decade or so Johnson's research has focused primarily on the history of gender-nonconformity and same-sexual behavior in the non-metropolitan United States during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries and he is currently completing a book on that topic.

Petra-Iraides Cruz Leal, Profesora Titular de Literatura Hispanoamericana. Sus líneas de investigación giran en torno a los estudios culturales, la literatura andina, la emigración y la vía interdisciplinaria. Ha publicado el libro Dualidad cultural y creación mítica en José María Arguedas (1990), y ha coordinado el volumen La estirpe de Telémaco. Estudios sobre la literatura y el viaje (2004). También ha investigado la obra de autores latinoamericanos como Gabriel García Márquez, José Carlos Mariátegui, Julio Ricci o Juan Armando Epple, en trabajos que han aparecido en revistas nacionales e internacionales (Revista de Filología, Cauce, Hispamérica, INTI, Revista Iberoamericana, entre otras).

Marie McMahon es profesora titular de Filología Inglesa (Cultura de los Países de Habla Inglesa) en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa y Alemana, ULL. Es Licenciada en Ciencias Políticas por la Universidad de Georgetown y Doctora en Historia por la Universidad Americana de Washington. Ha escrito varios estudios sobre el pensamiento político y religioso en la Inglaterra posterior a la Guerra Civil, desatancando entre ellos la monografía The Radical Whigs, John Trenchard and Thomas Gordon (U.P. of America, 1990). También ha publicado artículos sobre temas como el multiculturalismo, parámetros ideológicos de la historia y el militarismo en Estados Unidos. La Dra. McMahon ha impartido diversos cursos sobre historia británica y estadounidense, así como acerca de los debates culturales en torno a la historia. Es miembro fundador del Instituto de Estudios de la Mujer de la Universidad de La Laguna.

Juan Sebastián Nuez Yánez es Licenciado en Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales y Doctor por la Universidad de La Laguna. Ha realizado el Master en Dirección de Empresas Comercializadoras de Plátanos, impartido por The International Social Science Council, UNESCO. En la actualidad desarrolla su trabajo, como docente e investigador, adscrito al Departamento de Historia e Instituciones Económicas de la citada universidad con la categoría de Profesor Titular de Universidad. Es miembro Centro de Estudios Africanos de la Universidad de La Laguna (CEA-ULL) y del Instituto Universitario de Desarrollo Regional (IUDR) de dicho centro académico. Asimismo, forma parte del Grupo de Investigación en Economía Social de Canarias (GIESCAN) y del Grupo de Investigación Empresa Agraria y Sistema Financiero (AGROFIN). Sus principales líneas de investigación son: Sector Agropecuario, Relaciones Económicas Internacionales y Economía Social.

Dulce Rodríguez González es Doctora en Filología Inglesa por ULL, donde imparte docencia en literatura norteamericana. Ha sido profesora visitante en la Universidad de Nuevo México (Albuquerque). Sus campos de interés principal son los estudios de género y poesía escrita por mujeres. Ha investigado sobre la interpretación psicoanalítica de la díada madre-hija en poetas norteamericanas de la segunda mitad del siglo XX; también ha publicado artículos acerca de la obra de Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Alicia Ostriker y poetas chicanas, desde esa perspectiva. En la actualidad trabaja sobre varias poetas así como la estética de la violencia en el arte chicano, ya sea en música, ficción, poesía o cine.
